Pushing her hand through her hair, her bracelet slid up her arm and the charms chimed against each other. The group of girls standing in front of her were laughing and the high pitched and annoying sounds were ringing in her ears. She wanted to punch one of them. Punch them and beat them to a pulp, but of course, that wasn’t the way to handle things was it? Taking a deep breath she turned around and stormed off. She knew that returning to the school would be hard; however, she didn’t know it would be this hard. No one was accepting of her being back. The rumors going around were sick and she just didn’t understand where people came up with this stuff. Some said she was pregnant, others said she had an abortion, and her favorite was that she was put in an asylum. She should have just taken her parents advice and gone to a different school, but no. She was too darn stubborn.
Loreli jutted her chin in the air and the only sound as she walked away was the sound of her sandals and their seemingly endless cackles. Her purse bounced on her hip as she walked and her bobbed hair tickled her cheeks. Pulling open the door of the sports equipment closet at the end of the hall, she slammed it and leaned against the wall. She put her head in her hands and willed herself not to let the hot tears spill over her eyes. She tried to act so strong, but she was breaking one piece at a time, and she couldn’t have another mental break down. She just couldn’t. After…
River couldn’t even say his damn name. She didn’t in therapy and she wouldn’t now. It made her stomach knot up and made her want to throw up. Thankfully he was three states away and she had a restraining order forced upon her by her parent’s request. She took deep breaths through her nose and the fire of anxiety slowly ebbed. She pushed herself off the wall and smacked it, hard. The prickly pain in her hand was a welcome feeling as her anger busted out. Letting out a groan she knocked a bucket of tennis balls off the shelf. She watched them roll across the ground trying to take deep breaths, but it was like the anger just kept pouring out of her.
She just didn’t understand how a group of girls that used to be her best friends could turn on her like that. Just completely turn. They were shallow enough to corner her in a hallway and mock her like she was someone beneath them. Turning around she ripped open the door of the closet and headed straight for the cafeteria .The fire was burning in her eyes as she stomped straight to Anna’s table and grabbed her by the shirt. Loreli wasn’t thinking too hard about the consequences when her fist connected with the brown headed girls face. The rings on Loreli’s hand left a huge gash across the older girls’ cheek and Loreli just gave her a smirk as she reached out again. Someone called out that she was crazy, but she didn’t care. She was focused, and when Loreli focused on something... that was pretty much the end all.
She felt someone pulling at her, but she wasn’t paying attention. She was more focused on the fact that she wanted to bloody the girls face a little more. The cafeteria had gone silent and Loreli felt someone holding her, but she fought against them. Pulling at them to let her go. Even in a dress she still fought better than the brown headed Anna who was whimpering in her seat.

I shifted uneasily in my seat, my hazel eyes flicking between the group of girls I was sitting with to the blonde, whom they were flinging relentless insults and taunts at. I could practically smell a fight brewing, but it wasn't my place to get into the business of girls. I jerk my head towards the right and watch as the victim storms off- her name started with an L. Loreli, I think it was, though I couldn't quite catch it. Anna says something Loreli after she left, something that the others laugh at loudly. The curvy brunette giggles and leans over to me, placing her hand on my arm. "Right, Liam?" she asks. "Yeah." I reply, resisting the urge to shrug. I barely ever came to school, so I didn't know the latest gossip, though being around Anna pretty much filled me in on whatever I'd missed. She grins at me before turning back to her posse, and I look up as the doors blow open and the blonde strides up, taking Anna by the front of her pale blue blouse. Her fist smashes into her face and I stand up and wrap my arms around Loreli's waist in an attempt to pull her away. "Aye! Stop!" I blurt, taking a step back, but the girl was still holding onto her shirt. "Goddammit, Kyle, fucking help me." I growl to the blonde who was just sitting there, probably mentally calculating how many days Anna wouldn't be here to stop his advances on Claire.

Loreli pushed at the guys hands and when she couldn't get loose she just let her petite frame sag. Releasing the girls shirt she shoved her back. "Fucking bitch..." Loreli spat with a hiss. "Let go of me dammit!" She grumbled wiggling in the guys arms. Loreli was probably going to get suspended because of this, but hell, at this point she didn't care. She just wanted to show everyone that she wasn't the sweet little popular girl she was before. Before everything had happened she had been little River, best friends with Anna and all the other bitches who gossiped and joked around, and now they all hated her. She wasn't going to sit around and be treated like shit any longer. "Let me go!" She shrieked once more shoving her elbows into the persons chest. For such a small girl she could put up a big fight. I'm relieved when she pushes Anna away, who promptly collapses into a bloody, whimpering mess on the floor. I still don't let Loreli go, even though it's obvious that she was done. The beaten brunette looks up at me, her eyes narrowing at how i was still holding the blonde. I roll my hazel eyes. I hated how she was always so possessive over me- we didn't even date or some shit. I didn't like her, I really didn't. And her constant texts and general clingy-ness weren't exactly helping her cause. I turn towards the cafeteria doors and push them open, and, once we were through them, I let my captive go. I run my hand through my chestnut hair, letting a withheld breath out of my mouth. "I'd skip the rest of the day, if I were you, hide from the principal. Though that might just get you more days." I say, finishing with a shrug. surely teachers were about to swoop down like vultures. Though, then again, they never really messed with the prep's business- which Anna most definitely was.

Loreli was dragged through the cafeteria and out the doors before finally being let go. Stumbling slightly she straightened her back and dusted the wrinkles out of her dress. "Ha. I'd like to never come back, but we can't be that lucky can we?" She asked with a hint of snarkiness in her tone. "You should have let me break her nose." Loreli was angry at this boy for pulling her back, but why should she? He was just saving his girlfriend, girl toy, whatever the fuck Anna was to him. Loreli was a straight A, perfect attendance student. She didn't get sent home for beating people up, but she figured there was a first time for everything. When her parents find out she knew she was going to be in for an earful, but they couldn't do much when they were halfway across the country, could they?

Once I let her go, she straightens up and dusts herself off, straightening the rumples in her dress. I get my first good look at her. Cute blonde bob, pinkish dress, and lots of bracelets and rings. I raise my eyebrows slightly. Her hair didn't quite match the attitude of her outfit, but whatever. "Eh. I never come, so it's none the different to me." I reply, looking down at her. I was pretty tall and looked down on practically everyone, which I thought was pretty fun. "You should've. She deserves it. Oh, I'm Liam, by the way." I continue, offering Loreli a bright smile that quite contradicted the previous brutal happenings. But, I wasn't one to be cold to a pretty girl- which my companion most definitely was. But, I didn't want to get caught with her, accessories and all that.. though this wasn't murder. Still. I shift uneasily on my feet. Lunch had pretty much just started about ten minutes ago, so I had to wait all this out before heading to Weight Training. Where would be the perfect place to hide out, because I definitely wasn't going back in there.

Loreli looked him over. Cute. Brown hair, sweet smile. Typical of someone who was popular. Narrowing her eyes she was interested in his words, confused. "Loreli... but I prefer River." She had started going by her middle name years ago when people couldn't pronounce her first name. It was no difference to her what people called her, but River was her preferred. Shifting slightly Loreli could see the discomfort in the way he moved. "Alright, well... uh... I'm leaving then." Her pretty black mustang was waiting for her in the parking lot. A birthday/bribe gift from her parents, and she was just ready to get in and drive to... wherever she wanted. "It was nice of you to protect her." She offered as she began backing away.

So her name was Loreli. I'd heard it right. It was an odd name, though I'd heard worse. I nod slightly as she goes on to say that she prefers to be called River. When she announced she was leaving, I nodded a couple more times. What more had I expected? I stuff my hands into the pockets of my jeans and look at my feet before back at her, deciding I was going to probably just head back home. It'd make a good laugh for everyone. Liam shows up half a day then poofs again, maybe for three days. A week. Something like that. I scoff at Loreli's apparent departing words, shaking my head so that my chestnut hair swished to the side. "I wasn't protecting her. You could've smashed her face in for all I care, I just didn't want you to get any more days than you had to." I reply, shrugging my broad shoulders. It might've been because of that, or I just had a pacifist hidden somewhere deep inside me. "Anyway, I'm probably just gonna head home. Parents are at work." I say for no reason in particular, maybe just to hear myself talk.

She turned to head toward the door. "So you wouldn't care, yet you were all over her only moments before..." She hummed as she walked with a slight smirk pulling at the edge of her lips. "Plus why would you care how many days I get? You don't even know me." She stated as she walked. She didn't know who this guy was or why he would care. Shaking her head she pushed the doors open to the outside. Stopping only to dig her keys out of her purse and check her phone. She didn't have friends, aquaintances, or companions. She was alone and most of the time she preferred it that way. Her ultimate goal was to get out of school and dance somewhere. That was all she wanted, but unfortunately life liked to throw a bunch of setbacks in your face.

I roll my eyes as Loreli spoke as she walked away. "No guy would pass up easy sex." I mumble, not wanting to make myself seem like a player or something. I mean, I did have that reputation, but I still didn't want to show all my cards to a stranger. I follow after her to the doors, feeling awkward. She probably thought I was following her or something. "Not stalking you, just headed the same way." I feel compelled to say in an attempt to explain myself. "I don't know why, honestly." I toss the words over my shoulder as I start down the sidewalk that lead to the road. I dig my phone out of my pocket, checking the time. Twenty minutes until lunch ended and roll would be called for class. Plenty of time to get home and off the school premises. I didn't need my bag, or my homework- I never did it anyway.

Loreli dangled her keys in her hand and shook her head as she headed toward her car. Climbing in she blasted the music and rolled her windows down. Finally, she was ready to be out of this place. Reversing out of the spot she headed toward the exit beginning her drive home when she noticed Liam walking. Slowing down and turning down her music she smirked as she looked toward him. "Want a ride?" She asked. The sleek cars engine purred gently as she rolled along beside him. If he said no? Well, that was his own perogative and well... that just sucked for him didn't it? As she waited for him to respond she began to think of the beach and how much better laying out by the waves sounded than going home to do nothing.

I'm soon walking down the sidewalk that paralleled the road, about to cross the liquor store parking lot to head home before a black mustang pulled up beside me. I raise my eyebrows as I notice whose driving it, then her question. A ride? Well, I only lived about a hundred feet away, but I didn't need to tell Loreli that, did I? Nah. "Sure." I reply, nodding. I take a step over to pull the door open before sliding in, making sure not to hit my head on the roof when I sat down. I close the door after me, pulling the seat belt across my chest before clicking it in. "Where you thinking about going? I don't feel like going home. If you want to, then you can just drop me off somewhere." I say with a shrug, sitting back. I glance over at Loreli, raising my eyebrows questioningly.

Loreli smiled when he finally climbed in the car. "beach sounds nice." She said in response to his question. "Or you continue to walk home, but either way that's where i'm headed." She told him matter of factly. Beginning to drive once more she tapped her thumb on the steering wheel. "Home boring like mine?" She asked curiously. She was surprised that he had actually taken her up on a ride. Shaking it off, she didn't know why he did, but she certainly wasn't going to complain. River was tired of having no friends.

I turn to look out the window, watching as we started to speed up, though -hopefully- staying within the speed limit for when school was in. It would totally suck to get caught skipping when you just did leave- and with a pretty girl, at that. "Beach sounds awesome, though I don't have any trunks, but whatever. Total nude beach." I reply, chuckling. I was just kidding, though if Loreli would take me up on my offer I wouldn't tell her that. "Beach bound, it is." I confirm, grinning over at her happily. "Yeah, though way better than school. No offense, but way too much drama there. Home's way better, though I doubt I'll ever get out of high school at this rate." I continue, shrugging my shoulders slightly.

Loreli laughed at his statement but kept her eyes on the road. "Well I don't have a suit either, but that doesn't mean anything does it..." She said with a twitch of her lips and a light laugh. "We will be lucky if either of us finish high school. I would just drop out right now, if my parents weren't assholes." She said with an eyeroll. Pulling up to a parking lot near the beach she parked her child and turned off the ignition. "There is no way there can be drama at the beach. So, shall we?" She asked as she pulled her ray bans down over her eyes.
Loreli opened her door and stepped out with a smile as the sun hit her face. Taking her sandals off she tossed them into the drivers seat. "Won't be needed those." She said with a bright smile as she stood barefoot on the concrete. Her favorite place besides the dance studio was definitely the beach.
