I jog up the stairs to the stage, pushing past the thick red curtains to stumble into the darkness beyond. I quickly make my way to my usual hiding spot- under the stairs for some play, unable to be seen from the front, you had to actually walk by. I sniffle and sink to my knees to slide under, drawing my knees to my chest as I wiped at my face. Why'd Courtney have to do that? First point at me as I walked by her table then openly ask me if I'd visited Geoff's grave recently. Then go on to whisper to her friend Lisa, probably something about how I was a whore. I hiccup, putting my head in my hands as I tried to calm myself down. I slide out from under to pull my hoodie over my head before scooting back under, leaning forward to pop open the pocket of my boot, pulling out the razor blade. I sit back, staring at my scarred wrist. I thought to my brother. Why couldn't I be happy like him? Why couldn't I have someone to love me like Connor loved him? Sure, sometimes they didn't always see eye to eye, but they were always able to work past their differences. Where was Connor, anyway? He had my lunch, but I hadn't seen him. Maybe he just hadn't come today..

Jayson stumbled into the auditorium with a faint laugh to himself, looking over his shoulder to make sure the others hadn't followed and getting serious rather quickly. He shook his head andmu led to himself, playing with his lip ring and looking around before lighting up a joint. He drew in a long breath and relaxed, wandering towards the stage and pulling a sharpie from his pocket. He began to draw near the stairs where only the actors would see, just a rather random, intricate design. He heard a sniffle and Jayson's head snapped up. He got up curiously, joint dangling from his lips, smoke curling from his nose. He peered under the stairs and blinked in surprise. "Hey don't do that. I might throw up on you if you do." He wrinkled his nose and simply plopped down beside her, pulling the razor away and peering at her. "You're Con's friend right?" A goofy smile passed his lips.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I don't hear the guy until he speaks and sits down beside me. I jump and hit my head on one of the stairs above my head, wincing as I pull away from him, realizing I still had the blade in my hand and my cuts in plain sight. My mouth drops open as he simply takes it from my hand and I look over at him, not knowing what to think. I eye the joint dangling from between his lips and freeze at his question. "Yes." I reply, my tone defensive. If he was going to go on about Connor he had another thing coming. He could say something about me, sure, but Con? No way. People could say what they wanted about me, but no one messed with my friends. Well, friend. I really only had Connor. "What're you doing here, anyway?" I add, wrapping my arms around myself to hide my arms from him.

"Woah hey sorry," Jayson whined when she hit her head. He grinned at her response though. "Cool. I love Con. Wish he showed up more often." He took another drag on the joint and frowned when she hid her arms. "You don't hafta hide that.. And I'm smoking and drawing." He shrugged and yawned lazily, tapping fingers on thefloor and twisting to toss the blade towards the trash, missing. He twisted back around to look at her again, cocked his head. "Name's Jayson. Or Jayce, or whatever yo wanna call me. You?"

"Its fine." I say softly as he apologizes when I hit my head. It wasn't his fault, I'd done it to myself. I tuck a stray strand of violet hair behind my ear, wanting him to leave. I wanted my blade back. I just wanted to be alone, but apparently that was too much to ask for. I raise my eyebrows as he goes on to say that he liked Con. I hadn't seen that one coming. "He's my best friend." I reply simply, looking down as I picked at my black fingernail polish awkwardly. He was actually my only friend, but I didn't really need to tell him that, did I? I scowl as Jayson turns to toss my blade towards the trash, though he misses. I could always go and get it later, but, it'd probably just be better to get a new one. "Londyn." I say, surprised that he hadn't heard about me or some stupid shit like that. I look over at him appraisingly, wondering why he was still here.

"That's cool," Jayson drawled. He'd been friends with him, kind of. He knew him at least, knew his story as it really was, not as people told it. And Connor would actually talk to him unlike most people. That counted towards something right? Maybe Con didn't consider him a friend, but Jayson sure did. "Cute. I like that name." He smiled at her, taking another drag. He was too distracted to really focus on the gossip of most people, usually off screwing around with friends or getting in trouble or partying or something. He wasn't the best partyer, but whatever. "Why you here all by yourself though? That's no fun. I'd think someone pretty like you would have at least one person bugging you." He paused, grinned. "Oh. That's me huh?"

I nod absently and draw my knees up to my chest before wrapping my arms loosely around them. I look at my feet silently, before shrugging. "Thanks." I mumble, glancing over at Jayson out the corner of my eye. I didn't know why he was still here, bothering to talk to me. Maybe he'd heard what everyone said and thought I'd fuck him or something. I bite the inside of my cheek at the thought and lean against the wall of the stairs, a soft sigh escaping me. "I prefer to be alone." I reply, shifting my position. I can't help but roll my eyes as Jayson goes on to say something about me being pretty. Yeah, the emo girl with the scars and huge mole on my chin. Totally gorgeous; I thought sarcastically. "It is you." I agree, a ghost of a smile crossing my lips though it quickly fades.

"Ha!" Jayson yelped in triumph. "You smiled. I win." He took the finally drag on his joint and put it out, jumping up and slkipping to the trash to toss it, bending to pick up the needle and toss that as well. Spinning around, he returned to her and sat right back down, getting himself comfy. "Well I'm not leaving. I don't think someone like you deserves to be alone. Or should be." He rose an eyebrow in challenge, shrugging stubbornly. "What grade you in? How old are you?" He couldnt help it, he was talkative. Especially on pot.

I can't help but roll my eyes at his exclamation and shake my head gently before reaching for my hoodie. It was too hot to put it on, but I didn't want my arms visible. I open it and stuff my arms in but don't pull it over my head, glancing over as Jayson got up to leave. I sigh and push my hair from my face, surprised to find myself glad that he came right back. Why was that? Well, everyone needed company sometimes, right? And he hadn't said anything mean or tried to make a move or some bullshit like that. I huff at his multitude of questions and look down at my feet; anywhere but Jayson's face. "I'm a Junior, and sixteen." I reply simply, shrugging my shoulders. "You?" I add, deciding to at least make an attempt at being social, though I wouldn't add any questions on.

Jayson nodded at her words, squirming a bit like an excited puppy. "Senior, seventeen." He drawled, pulling his hone out at it buzzed. '6th street At dark' Was the text from an anonymous number. Jayce grinned. "Sweet." He huffe absently. A text like that meant there was a race tonight. Talk about fun. He blinked up at Londyn innocently and smiled brightly. "Any siblings?"

I raise my eyebrows as he wriggles before answering and I nod slightly. leaning forward to rest my chin on my knees. I glance over as his phone goes off and play with the ends of my violet hair absently. "A brother. His name's Attyston.. he dates Connor." I reply with a small shrug. I honestly didn't care how Jayson would take the whole bisexual thing, and I really didn't care. It wasn't any of his business, but I'd add it on. I was proud of them and glad that they were happy together.. at least someone was. 'I breathe you in with smoke in the backyard lights, we used to laugh until we choked into the wasted nights.' I look up as my ring tone starts and check the pocket of my hoodie- nothing. Panicked, I look around me before spotting my phone on the floor outside the stairs- it must have fallen out of my hoodie when I'd taken it off. "Uh. Hand me that." I say, pointing to the lit up screen as the song continued to play.

"Really?" Jayson got excited. "That's so cool. He needs someone. He's seemed lonely since he broke up with Zoey." He nodded, the. Got sidetracked and wondered if she'd be there tonight, and sent her a quick text before blinking at the playing of music. He skimmed the ground with his eyes and crawled over to her phone, picking it up and bringing it back to her.

Huh. Apparently he didn't have a problem with gays or whatever. He just got some brownie points in my book. "Yeah, they're adorable." I sigh, a slight bitter tone in my voice. I just wished that someone would look at me the same way they looked at each other, the obvious adoration and love in their eyes. "Thanks." I mumble as Jayson reaches for my phone. My light blue eyes land on the picture of Vic that I'd set as my screen saver before quickly typing in my password and looking at a text from Connor. I raise my eyebrows and open it, sighing as he asked if I was okay- he had apparently been in the lunch room and I just hadn't seen him. I type back that I was fine and hitting send before looking over at Jayson. "Do you have any siblings?" I ask, putting my phone on the floor beside me.

Jayson glanced a her as she texted, studyin her curiously before frowning at her question. "An older brother that up and went missing awhile ago.." He mumbled sullenly, then that grin was back, pushing the pain away. "And my parents adopted my best friend, so a brother my age. That's 'bout it." He leaned back on his hands, tilting his head and smiling at her. "Why you hiding in the shadows? Come sit on the stage so I can see your eyes..." He whined, reaching over to poke her before sticking out his tongue. "Pleeaase?"

I feel guilty about asking when a frown comes over his face. But, I hadn't known not to ask. Soon, the frown is replaced with a grin and I mentally shake my head. What kind of person was that happy all the time? Well, Jayson had been smoking earlier, so maybe that was it. "That sounds fun." I breathe, nodding as I look over at him. It must be cool to be able to see your best friend everyday, even has him as an adopted brother. It'd be awesome to have Connor as a brother, though then him and Att would be committing incest. I roll my eyes at his request and jump as he pokes me, before mentally shaking myself. Jayson wasn't going to hurt me, or at least he didn't seem like it. "One problem with that: you're sort of blocking my way out." I say, rapping my knuckles on the plywood wall beside me. "I could crawl over you, but that's not gonna happen." I add with a shrug, poking his shoulder in retaliation.
