I pull open the door to McDonald's, glancing over at the ladies behind the counter. They looked bored, and I wasn't hungry so I wouldn't bother them from their phone-surfing. I stroll over to a table behind one of the small pillars of walls that broke the room in two- ordering area and eating area. And I was right under a TV. Well, at least I would get caught up on the news. I set my laptop on the table, starting it up before swinging myself out of my chair and striding up to the counter. "A medium iced coffee, please." I say, handing the lady a five. She takes it and I take my change, leaning casually against the counter and tapping my turquoise painted fingernails in time with the poppy beat playing distantly overhead. I mumble out a 'thanks' as I take my drink and turn to go back to my seat, climbing up and sitting down as I pull up Facebook. I had a paper due, but I had until tomorrow, why not chat and shit? I pull up Ray's bubble and type in 'Hey'. I sip my latte and smile as he replies 'hey, babe, sup?' I check my phone, a new message from Dominique. I pull up Youtube after replying and start up One Time (with lyrics) by Justin Bieber at a respective low volume, though I was the only one in here. Outfit;Link Song;Link2

Travis was actually surprised things had gone well with Aliss. They weren't officially dating. It kept the whole 'you cant talk to her, you can't talk to him' thing out of the way. Though he was impressed with himself about not standing close to a girl when talking her. Even if Aliss wasn't around, he felt like he needed to respect her as a potential girlfriend. Well, until she'd decided that her and Travis were only going to be good fuck buddies, nothing else. Sure, he was disappointed, but when he saw Aliss crying later, he talked to her. Travis looked at things differently after that. He walked into McDonalds, toting his little sister behind him. She darted from his grasp and ran to the counter, but continued watching him. Sadly, the toddler crashed into the back of someones chair, causing it to rock slightly forward. Travis ran towards his sister, pulling her off the ground. She spun a little, but shook her head and grinned. I'm so so- Oh, Diana. He wished he would have looked up before he started speaking. Travis cleared his throat. Say sorry, Liz. He looked at his sister and she harrumphed, but apologized.

I tilt my face down to my phone as I type back a text to Dom. My laptop pings and I turn back to the Facebook window just as someone bumps into my chair, tilting it forward. I grab the table to stop myself from potentially falling and shoot a glare behind me, freezing when I noticed who it was. "Its fine." I reply with a small shrug, keeping my gaze on the little girl. Did Travis know the rumors I'd spread around? Surely he'd heard the whispers that started whenever he was near, but did he know I was behind it? Maybe. I'd already set my friends against him, and I was working on my friends setting their friends against him. A ping reaches my ears again and I glance over to see two messages from Ray. I let out a huff and open it. 'want me to come?' and 'weelll?' I move the touch pad mouse over and type back in 'no, working on a paper, won't be much fun right now.' and hit the enter button before glancing back. "So, Travis, how's life?" I ask, plastering my perfected fake smile onto my face.

Travis looked down at Diana. He really didn't want to deal with her in front of his sister. Yea, he'd known she was behind the rumors. But it didn't change his life to much, only made it slightly harder to get a fully willing girl. Not that he couldn't go to a different school or something. Very well, in fact. He gave her a smile as fake as hers and ushered Liz to the counter to order. Travis turned to Diana and stopped smiling. Could you at least drop the bitch act around my sister. He didn't phrase it as question, it wasn't needed in his opinion. But when would that ever happen? It was just Diana. Travis kept an eye on Liz, who had just gotten a milkshake. Oh, joy. A hyped six year old, always fun.

I nod as if happy for him, but turn around to reply to Ray, who was saying that he didn't mind, he just wanted to see me. 'you can see me at school, and you're coming over tomorrow, remember' I type, hitting enter before rolling my eyes towards the ceiling as Travis' words reached me and mouthed 'God help me' to myself before turning around. "Like she knows I'm pretending. I scoff, crossing my arms over my chest. I reach a flawless turquoise nail up to my face to run it over my newly waxed eyebrows; I knew they were red, but it should have faded over the drive here. I turn around to hit the repeat button -totally raping it- and set my back against the wall so that I wouldn't have to keep turning back and forth between my laptop and Travis.

Travis shrugged. Liz was really smart about the fakes of life after dealing with her mother. He turned to watch her climb to a tall bar stool. She turned to him and grinned, holding up her arms in a triumphant state. Travis chuckled and looked back at Diana. How's life for you? I guess I should ask out of courtesy, even if it's as fake as your concern was.Despite how much he told himself he couldn't care less about how her life was, a small part of him wanted to know. He crossed his arms and peered out of the window. It was almost a completely dead day. At least the stores would be empty for when he went shopping with Liz. But the toy shops might still be packed. Travis snapped his attention back to more, or less, important things.

I raise my eyebrows as Liz climbs a tall bar stool and a small smile creeps onto my face but I quick quash it when Travis turns his gaze back to me. "Oh, great. Except for this damn paper I have no clue how to write." I reply, shrugging though a note of genuine annoyance had crept into my voice. I had to write something about Harper's Ferry and I had no clue what to say other than he broke into the armory and got shot and died.. or at least I think that's what happened.. I snap myself out of it at another ping and glance over before opening the chat bubble. 'ya, but i wanna see u'. Oh, Jeez. Ray was cool and all -and a good kisser- but he could get really clingy sometimes. 'you'll live.' I reply, shaking my head ever so slightly before crossing my legs demurely at the ankles.

Travis turned to watch his sister bound up to the McDonalds register before he looked back at Diana. It'd been a while since he had seen her last. Not too terribly long, but a little over just long enough. Truthfully, life hadn’t been as well as he told her. It was shitty. Bradley didn’t hang around him anymore because some rumor about Travis and Michelle hooking up, which never happened. Most of the puppies that followed him around fled off to other guys and his mom had even started questioning letting Travis leave the house so much. He could assume that Diana had started most of the rumors and hell he was being dealt, but he had no idea how his mom could have gotten a hold of the information unless ‘concerned Bradley’ confronted her. At least Eric had stuck around. Travis watched her send something away, an instant message probably. Then he wondered if Diana and Ray ever made if far. She’d kissed him like she planned on it. I could help with the paper, depending on the subject. He shrugged mutely and watched Liz started munching on fries.

I pick up my iced coffee and take a sip, crossing one leg daintily over the other. I knew rumors were flying about Travis- I'd started most of them, but kept the one about him chasing me to myself. Maybe I could make it into some big blow-up later on and go on about how annoying and stupid he was being then; but I'd decide on that when the time was right. I raise my eyebrows as Travis offers to help me with my essay. "Oh, really?" I ask, leaning back and crossing my arms over my chest as best I could while keeping hold of my coffee. "Its on Harper's Ferry." I add, twisting my chair back around and closing out of Facebook- leaving Ray's new, unopened message hanging. I pull up what I'd written so far: basically the title and my name. "I'm very productive." I mumble to myself, glancing back at him as if he was going to spit out an A+ on the spot.

Harpers Ferry, well, that was easy. Travis sat down opsite to Diana and pulled out his phone, pulling up a quick webpage. John Brown's plan seemed fairly straightforward: he and his men would establish a base in the Blue Ridge Mountains from which they would assist runaway slaves and launch attacks on slaveholders. At least that was the plan that the militant abolitionist had described to potential funders in 1857. But his plans would change. He had been ready in 1858 to launch his war -- he had both the men and the money to proceed. Brown was asked to postpone the launch, though, because one of his followers had threatened to reveal the plan -- a threat that the blackmailer did follow through on. So Brown agreed to go into hiding. He read slowly, stopping to look up at Diana. A small hint of red flammed high in his cheekbones and he looked down at the phone. I had to do a paper on it last year in summer school. The excuse for having a history page bookmarked on his phone was a horrible one, but at least it was partly true. Travis debated sliding the phone across to her so she could read it, but instead he left it on the table in front of him. I can read more or give you the site, if you want. He said, looking back towards his sister. Finally, he saw his mom pull up. Travis waved as Liz and his mom left.

My blue eyes watch as he takes out his phone and I quickly start typing as he speaks- good thing I was a fast typer or else I would be totally lost by now. "Oh, its good. If you didn't have it I'd be in deep shit; though I need three hundred words." I reply with a limp shrug of my narrow shoulders. I notice the red spreading across Travis' cheeks and mentally arch and eyebrows but leave it be- I wanted to do good on this paper and having my human textbook mad at me wouldn't get me any closer to that A. "You can keep reading, if you want, I can keep up." I say, popping my fingers and twisting around on my stool to pop my back before hovering my fingers over the keyboard in preparation. I glance over as who I assume to be their mother pulls up to pick up Travi's sister before turning my expectant gaze to him again.

Travis looked back down at his phone and scrolled down, reading off the most important things and putting in a way where Diana wouldn't get caught for plagiarism. When he finished, his lungs felt like they had said at least ten thousand words. He looked up at her typing fingers and tapped his foot. I hope that was three hundred words. Else you'll be doing the rest yourself. He muttered, pushing his phone back in it's pocket. Travis looped his fingers together and put his elbows on the table, looking around the thinning McDonalds. Weird, it was almost busy in the fast food hot spot. He looked back at Diana. Hope I helped.

It was obvious that he was putting it into his own words- the slowness told me that.. either that or he thought I typed much slower than I actually did. Soon Travis stops reading and I check the word count- 322. I playfully wipe imaginary sweat off my forehead and lean back in my chair to take a sip of my iced coffee. "Its good, thanks. Total is three hundred and thirty two words." I reply a small smile crossing my face as I glance over at him. I save the document -I'd print it later- before closing the window and running a hand through my hair as my blue eyes look over my pink and white polka dotted wallpaper. I glance over at him and pat the seat next to me. "What do you want? I'll get you something- my treat." I offer, raising my eyebrows. The least I could do was get him some food, thoughI didn't know if it was an A or not.. but, help was help.

Travis tugged at the rubber band around his wrist. He smiled when she announced the total words. It was weird, how seemingly normal their encounter was. Though he still had his doubts that it would stay that way. [color-cc3300]No biggy. He shrugged. His phone dinged and he pulled it out, frowning. It was from Ethan(what ever that guy's name was, I don't remember). Apparently Bradley had been in a car accident. Travis, despite his past friendship with Bradley, found it hard to care. He was the one who stopped talking to Bradley. Bradley had feared embarrassment from talking to Travis. You may want to check up with Michelle. Bradley had a car wreck. Travis put his phone away. His expression was of the utmost calm, uncaring set. He did hope Bradley's parents fared well after the accident, though. Really? Might as well jump on this opportunity. How about a Mountain Dew for the lad? He quirked one side of his mouth before the other in attempt to not smile fully. Even though she had said food, he'd already eaten with Liz.

I nod slightly as he went on that I should check in on Michelle, something about Bradley being in a car accident. I'd heard about it, but never really thought much on it. I roll my eyes at the ding that comes from my lap top. I bring up facebook and log out, thoroughly annoyed with Ray at the moment. Hm. How to pay Travis back. Suddenly a thought comes into my mind and I hold back a smirk. He'd been interested in me, right? Well. I turn towards him as he said something about a Mountain Dew, a mischevious glint in my eyes. I lean forward to press my lips to his for a couple moments before pulling back and sliding off my stool. I stride up to the counter, telling the lady I wanted a medium soda and another iced coffee. I hand her the money and take my drink and the cup for Travis. I go back and climb up onto my stool, setting the cup in front of him casually- he could get it himself.
