Covered In Ash; open

[Cole Gryffon]

Cole smiled as he watched him climb down while he couldn't catch him staring. Once Alcatraz was on the ground, Cole began to scale down the tree with ease, dropping neatly onto his feet and grinning at Alcatraz before starting over to his backpack. He picked it up and stuck his tongue out, playfully scampering off.

I look up as he comes down before glancing away, pushing off from the trunk as Cole's feet hit the ground. I follow him over to the swings and huff as he picks up my book bag before running off. "I'm not chasing you." I call, simply walking after him, self conscious of the parents and little kids looking over at us. I cross my arms over my chest and continue to walk before stopping and plopping down on the ground, crossing my legs. I wasn't running, and if Cole thought I was he had something else coming.

Cole made a sound of complaint and wandered back over, dropping next to him and handing it over. "Fine." He was usually self conscious too, but hey whatever. It was mothers and kids to judge them, not teens from school.
He stretched out on the grass and put his arms under his head, looking up at the clouds before pointing into the sky. "It's a puppy."

"Thanks." I say, taking it from him. I look over as he lays down beside me and I, too, stretch out to look up at the sky. I giggle as Cole points up and I shake my head.
"Looks like a bunny to me." I state, shrugging my shoulders. My blue eyes look up as I scan the sky before pointing. "It's a heart." I chirp, a grin on my face. I roll over onto my stomach and reach for my bag, digging through it until I could find my water bottle.

Cole giggled a bit, shrugging. But he could see how it could be a bunny too. He smiled as he pointed out the heart, and then began to look around again until he found another good one that looked like a dolphin. "It's a dolphin." He nudged him and pointed it out quietly, a faint smile teasing his lips.

[Alcatraz Hurst]

I unscrew the cap and take a sip, looking over my shoulder as he pointed out a dolphin-shaped cloud to me.
"It is." I agree, holding out the water bottle to Cole in case he wanted some. I push my hair from my face before taking another sip and putting it back in my bag.
"Circle." I state, pointing towards it with a serious expression.

Cole took a sip and watched him do the same before putting it back. He glanced up at the sky, laughing under his breath. "Yeah. I found a square." Cole pointed. He curled on his side and gazed at Alcatraz, finding himself enjoying the view much better than the clouds right now. "I found you..." He blushed and smiled.

I giggle as he points up, saying something about a square. I brush my hair from my face and roll over after Cole does, cupping my cheek in one hand as I looked at him. "I wasn't hiding." I reply, sticking out my tongue at him playfully.
"So. Come here often?" I ask, winking at him playfully before chuckling with a grin on my face. It was fun being able to open up around someone and not fearing judgement.

Cole smiled shyly. "Yes," He scoffed, scratching at his stomach a bit under the shirt, telling himself not to forget about the sharpie written word. He reached out almost curiously to play with Alcatraz's longer hair, free hand fixing the scarf around his own neck. Scarf and jacket and..gym shorts. He wondered what the football players had done with his red skinn jeans. Then again maybe he didn't want to know.

I roll my eyes playfully at his reply before watching as she scratched at his stomach. I nip at the air as Cole reached over to fiddle with my black hair and I reach out to ruffle his teasingly. "You wanna braid it?" I ask sarcastically before smiling at him softly. I was glad that he'd stumbled over me earlier, I finally had a friend, and I'd actually kissed someone now. It was like the planets had aligned, if I beleived in that sort of shit.

Cole giggled a bit, shaking his head and sticking his tongue out as his hair was ruffled. He ran his fingers slowly through Alcatraz's, hinestly not wanting today to end, even if it was only half over. He felt so much happier than he had in a long time and he realized he had actually really missed that feeling. Hopefully they could hang out tomorrow, too. And the game would be a lot of fun tonight. Cole didn't usually go out a whole lot.

I grin as he chuckles and I grip his hand as he laced our fingers together, my blue eyes looking at them. I was still amazed that it seemed that Cole actually liked me, I really wasn't anything special. But he'd drawn me out of my shell, so at least I was being myself with him, not being quiet and cold like I usually was. "We gonna hang here until the game?" I ask randomly, running my thumb over his hand as my eyes found his face again, a small smile on my face.

"I dunno..if you want.. Or after school gets out we cohld....go to my place." He wasn't used to talking so much. "Watch movies or hang outside, then my brother could take us to the game.. Since Ty's playing." He shrugged, hoping Jacob would play nice and not seem too scary. He really wasn't...just acted like it.

I raise my eyebrows as I listen as he speaks, nodding slightly as he went on that we could go back to his house. "A movie sounds pretty cool." I reply, smiling over at Cole happily. I was scared at the prospect of meeting his brother, though. Hopefully he wouldn't completely hate me, especially since I planned on hanging out with Cole from now on. "We still have a couple hours until school ends though." I add with a shrug, looking over at him as I freed my hand from his to playfully poke his nose.

Cole smiled at him nodding happily. He wrinkled his nose as it was poked, eyes beyond happy. Curling more on his side, he searched Alcatraz's face, blushing and looking away shyly. He just couldn't help it.
