I huff and fix my bangs as the air conditioning unit over the door blows them out of place and I pull a cart out of the line, dropping my purse in the part where a baby would sit before pushing it past the check out aisles. In four months I'd have a baby to put there. I push the thought out of my head, starting down the last aisle and I impulsively pull a package of gummy worms off the rack- I'd seriously been craving sweet or sour candy lately. My blue eyes rove over the shelves after I toss the bag into my cart, a hand running over my extended stomach absently.

Ashoka flicked his lighter on and off slowly as he started into Food Lion, pigment-less eyes focused on the flickering flame. He looked around warily and sighed, making his way towards the snack aisle and grabbing a bag of chips and a twelve pack of soda. He hadn't heard the girl coming down the aisle, backed straight into her cart and cursed as he dropped his chips. "Shit sorry." He mumbled, red eyes glancing up at her hesitantly as he crouched to scoop the bag back into his arms. He forced a weak smile, feeling jumpy. Some cop had come up and asked if he was Ashoka the other day, and he had been kind of freaked out. It had been almost a year...but still. Had they found out what happened? 'I'm so sorry Zeph...' He thought sorrowfully, ducking his head and sliding past the pregnant girl. Outfit

I jump as my cart rolls into me after some guy kocks into my cart and I look over at him, pausing for a moment at his pale skin, his red eyes. Were they contacts? "Oh, uh, i-its okay.." I mumble, shrugging my shoulders a bit as I brush my bangs out of my face. I take a step back to allow him more room to get by, my blue eyes on his face. "Y-Your eyes are red." I say randomly, my curiosity getting the better of me. I knew it was probably best to mind my own business, but I'd already spoken, so I offer him a shy smile.

Ashoka paused and glanced back at her. He was used to if, and not offended. He smiled a bit at her curiosity. He'd always had a weakness for a friendly face, no matter how big of a jerk he could be. And quite frankly he was lonely. He lived alone, avoided people. His anger could get out of control, and he didn't want to hurt people like that again. "Yeah..they are.." He breathed, running a hair awkwardly through his hair. "I'm uh, albino."

I raise my eyebrows a bit as he looks back at me and I nod a bit as he tells me that he's albino. I'd never seen one before, or met one, so I hoped he didn't think I was annoying or something. "Uh, I'm Sydney.." I say, looking down at my feet for a moment. I didn't want to just nod and send him on his way- that would be rude, wouldn't it? I raise my blue eyes back to his face, reaching for a bag of Rollos to toss them into my cart.

"Ashoka." He juggled his things around so he could hold out a free hand to her. "Like, the Buddhist king of India, I think." He scoffed a bit. But, Buddhism wasn't all bad. He couldn't complain. He was far from a noble creature however. The only family member he regretted killing was little Zephyr, and that's where the problem was. It haunted him. If he'd taken him with, known he had been home... God.

I grin a bit as he tells me his name and reach out my small hand to shake with his larger one. He was taller than me, too. A soft chuckle escapes me as he goes on about where he thought his name came from. "More original than Sydney." I reply, shrugging my shoulders a bit before running a hand through my curly hair. I fidget with the hem of my white shirt absently, looking from my feet back to his face. He probably had places to go, and I was just holding him up.

"Nah. I like it. Ash is all grey and boring." He found himself truly smiling. This wasn't how he normally came off in public. She'd caught him on a good day and he was really lonely actually. But she was also pregnant, and probably dating someone. Ashoka was awkward with flirting anyway, so that was okay. But..secretly children could be adorable. "How far along are you?" He tilted his head.

"Pft." I snicker, shaking my head a bit as I look over at him. He was pretty cute, actually, but I didn't want to say anything about that- how weird would that be? "Uh? Oh, five months." I respond, running a hand over my stomach affectionantely. I'd actually hated my unborn child for a while- all it did was remind me of how cruel and mean people could be, but my mom had eventually talked me out of it, made me see sense. I don't notice the dark look that crosses over my face and I look down at my feet for a moment, hoping that Ash didn't think I was some sort of whore.

He searched her face a moment. That expression, he knew it well. Someone had done something to her. It pissed him off actually, and he didn't know who had done what. Maybe he was insane or something. Like seriously. "Yeah? That's really cool." He bit his lip thoughtfully, shifting the heavy box of soda in his arms. He didn't want to be rude and delve into her personal life, however. And asking her over for a beer was out of the question obviously.

"Yeah, I just hope I'm a good parent." I mumble, shrugging my shoulders a bit as I smile over at him. I watch Ash shift the box in his arms. "Oh, uh, you wanna put that on my cart? .. Unless you're leaving." I ask awkwardly, looking away from his face for a moment. I look down at my feet before digging my list out of my pocket and running my blue eyes over it. I didn't have much to get- just the basics like bread, lettuce, the boring things.

Ashoka hesitated. He had planned on leaving. But he supposed he could stay. "Uhm sure, thanks." He set the soda in her cart, hanging onto the chips so he wouldn't hog all her space. A radio went off and he glanced over his shoulder warily. It was an officer doing some shopping. "Shit," Ashoka mumbled, urging Sydney towards the end of the aisle.

A small grin crosses my face as he moves to put the soda on my cart and I push it forward a bit, planning on going to get the other things I needed and Ash speeds me up a bit. "Wha-?" I start, already turning the aisle corner when I spot the cop. Surely it wasn't that he was on the run from the cops or something- maybe it was something else, maybe he had a problem with that individual police officer. "I just need a few more things.." I murmur, starting towards the bread aisle and turning down if before grabbing a loaf and carefully placing it in my cart.

"Nothing.." He mumbled sheepishly, relaxing after they had rounded the corner. Couldn't be too careful, right? He nodded as she said she had a few more things to grab. Funny, how his loner stop for some junkfood had turned into a shopping trip with a pretty girl.

I start pushing the cart again, running a stray hand over my bangs as I turn another corner to start into the produce section, reaching for a head of lettuce. I pick it up and look at it for a moment before putting it into my cart and straightening back up. "Mmm, that's it." I say, shrugging my shoulders a bit before smiling at Ash and starting towards the checkout lanes.
